Can a student talk to an Academic Adviser without going through orientation?

No. New students cannot meet with an academic adviser until they attend new student orientation.

I received academic accommodations for coursework in high school. Are the same accommodations available to me at The University of Akron Wayne College?

Academic accommodations are available to students who qualify for services. Please contact The University of Akron Wayne College Learning Center at 330.684.8960.

Can a parent be with their student during the academic advising appointment?

No. The University of Akron considers all new students to be adults and responsible for their own academic pursuits. The academic adviser will meet with each student individually during the orientation day to discuss the student's academic goals. A parent can review their student's schedule and adjustments can be made through the end of the first week of the semester, if necessary.
