Scholarships for UA Regional Campus students


Unlike loans, scholarships are free money for college with no need to pay them back (although, you do need to apply for them). There’s a wide variety of scholarships available, both through Wayne College and college scholarship organizations. The University of Akron scholarships may also be available to regional campus students. Explore your scholarship options below.

Scholarships for new and continuing students

The table below provides details about the scholarships available to Wayne College students. Please note, some scholarships require that additional information be sent to Wayne College Student Services, Attn: Scholarships.

Austin Bailey Health & Wellness Foundation Scholarship

Award up to $2,000 FT/PT Continuing undergraduate sophomore in health-related major or junior in general science major maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA and declare a financial need per annual FAFSA application. First preference to non-traditional students. Must reside in Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas, or Wayne counties. Foundation application is required in addition to Wayne scholarship application. Renewable for up to three years if all criteria are met and both scholarship committees approve.
William T. Baker Family Scholarship Award up to $1,000 FT/PT Continuing students residing in Holmes County, West Holmes High School graduate attending the Wayne College Campus, and declaring financial need per annual FAFSA application.
Carol M. Briggs Scholarship $500 FT Student declaring a financial need per annual FAFSA application. First preference to Wayne Campus students but course registration can include both Wayne and Akron Campus courses.   
James A. Jr and Donna Dale Davis Endowed Scholarship Award amount varies FT Graduate of Orrville or Dalton high schools. Demonstrate a financial need (Annual FAFSA completed). Renewable if recipients continue to meet all scholarship criteria and good academic standing declaring financial need per annual FAFSA application.
Anita Degnan Memorial Scholarship Award up to $1,000 FT New or continuing students who graduated from a Wayne County High School. First preference to graduates of Wooster HS, Wayne County Schools Career Center, or Smithville Boys Village. Demonstrating academic promise and declaring a financial need per FAFSA application. Renewable if all scholarship criteria is met. Renewable if all scholarship criteria is met and scholarship committee approves.
Julius Fejes Scholarship Award amount varies up to $1,500 FT Graduate of Orrville High School majoring business with minimum 3.25 GPA and must be employed part-time or full-time.
Park National Bank Scholarship Award up to $2,500 FT/PT Graduate of West Holmes High School and/or Hiland (East Holmes) High School. Second preference to non-traditional students. Recipients must declare a financial need per FAFSA application.
Farmers National Bank Scholarship $500 FT Resident of Wayne County who have completed at least 24 credit hours at the Wayne College Campus demonstrating academic promise and declaring financial need per FAFSA application.  
Wayne County Founders Scholarships Award amount varies FT/PT
    • Award amount varies ranging from $500 up to $3,000 depending on criteria. Minimum 3.0 GPA and declaring financial need per FAFSA application.
    • Early Admission Scholarship $500 Award for requires minimum 3.3+ GPA and 22+ ACT. Admitted to Wayne College Campus by March 1st
    • Automatic Scholarship $1,000 to $3,000 Award requires minimum 3.0 high school GPA or 2.5 GPA for Career Center graduates along with an 18+ ACT
    • Continuing Student Scholarship $2,000 FT or $1,000 PT Award requires minimum 3.0 GPA
    • Summer Scholarship $1,000 FT or $500 PT requires minimum 3.0 GPA and must have completed minimum of 12 credit hours at Wayne College.
  • Great Start Book Scholarship $300 per semester FT/PT $300 Textbook reimbursement each semester after providing proof of purchase. FT/PT. New or continuing students. Scholarship application essay needs to include personal statement regarding the value of scholarships and must declare a financial need per FAFSA application.
    Scott Hagen Memorial Scholarship $500 FT/PT New Freshman majoring in biology or a related field. Must be admitted to the Wayne College Campus but course registration can include both Wayne and Main campus courses.  Scholarship application essay needs to include educational background and career goals.
    Hecker-Nussbaum Academic Achievement
    Scholarship
    $1,000 FT New Freshman with high school GPA between 3.0 and 3.5 with ACT composite of 21+.
    Hecker-Nussbaum Academic Opportunity Grant $500 FT/PT New freshman declaring a financial need.
    Holmes County Education Foundation Scholarship Up to $2,000 FT/PT For residents of Holmes County or a graduate of Holmes County High School with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
    John P. Kristofco Scholarship $1,500 FT New Freshman (traditional or non-traditional) student majoring in English or Education. Minimum 3.5 GPA and 26 ACT. Scholarship essay should include strong academic background, accomplishments or involvement in writing, public service or education, plus academic-career goals.
    John & Virginia Kunkle Memorial Scholarship $500 FT/PT New freshman or Continuing students who reside in Wayne, Stark or Summit counties. Have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours at the Wayne College Campus, majoring in Business or Administration, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and declaring a financial need per FAFSA application.
    Michael J. Manges Memorial Scholarship $500 8+ Credits Major: Social Work
    Sophomore (32-63 credits)
    Miles-Thompson Memorial Scholarship Award amount varies FT/PT For students enrolled at the UA Medina campus or Wayne campus majoring in STEMM degree. First preference to nursing and engineering majors. Demonstrate financial need (Annual FAFSA completed). Renewable if recipients continue to meet all scholarship criteria and good academic standing declaring financial need per annual FAFSA application.
    Janet Barnett Minc & David Minc Endowed Scholarship $250 FT Sophomore (32-63 credits)
    Minimum 3.5 GPA
    Chuck Nicholson Auto Superstore Scholarship $500 8+ credits New freshman or continuing student enrolled in a minimum of 8 credit hours, a West Holmes High School graduate residing in Holmes County and declaring a financial need per FAFSA application.
    Noble Foundation Fund Award amount varies FT/PT
      • Eligible students must have at least a 2.0 grade point average and reside in Wayne County.
      • Eligible students at Wayne College who have funding gaps in tuition, fees, or other costs that would, if unaddressed, impact their college attendance
      • Financial need may include tuition-related expenses or any unforeseen expenses that, if not resolved quickly, could lead to a student's departure from Wayne College and loss of momentum toward degree completion
      • To use funding for items other than tuition and fees, applicants must be able to provide supportive documentation of financial need for emergency expense(s). Examples of acceptable documentation could include items such as car repair estimates or rental agreements
      • Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books or living expenses, including off-campus housing, utilities, food, transportation, as well as other unforeseen expenses as approved by the Wayne College Scholarship Committee
    Obiekwe Memorial Endowed Scholarship Award amount varies FT New Freshman or Continuing students with minimum of 30 credit hours completed in Wayne College Campus courses. Minimum 3.5 GPA, received an "A" in College Algebra and English Composition 111 and 112, and declaring a financial need per FAFSA application. Second preference to Wayne Campus admits enrolled in Akron Campus courses.

    Graduate of Orrville HS or Smithville HS

    Bruce Schantz Scholarship $1650/$825 FT/PT New freshman with promising academic record and declaring a financial need per FAFSA application.
    Peggy J. Shallenberger Memorial Scholarship $1,000 FT/PT Eligible students must be working toward a degree or certificate and enrolled at Wayne Campus.  Preference will be given to students with the greatest financial need.  
    Scholarship for Inclusion and Diversity at the Wayne Campus  $1,000 FT/PT

    LGBTQ+ students in their sophomore through senior level at Wayne Campus identifying in one of the categories. Must be majoring in one of our 4 year degrees (Education/Communication/Nursing/Business Marketing), have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and declare a financial need per annual FAFSA application. Essay needs to include involvement and or leadership with LGBTQ+ community, how the scholarship will help achieve educational goals, and list of other extracurricular activities. Renewable if all scholarship criteria is met and scholarship committee approves recipients scholarship application.

    Student First Scholarship Up to $500 Award FT/PT New and continuing students maintaining a GPA between 2.5 to 3.0, employed, and declaring a financial need per FAFSA application.
    Craig Alan Swope Memorial Scholarship Award up to $1,000 FT New Freshman or Continuing student enrolled in Early Childhood Inclusive Teacher Prep program at Wayne College Campus and declaring a financial need per FAFSA application. Renewable if all scholarship criteria is met and scholarship committee approves recipients scholarship application.
    Mike & Cindy Taylor Textbook Scholarship $350 FT/PT Textbook reimbursement each semester after providing proof of purchase. Must be a Holmes County resident
    Brenda K. Tudor Endowed Scholarship $1200 FT First consideration to first generation college student

    Walkerly Memorial Scholarship $250 to $500 FT/PT Continuing students in junior or senior year majoring in Social Work, resident of Wayne County, and declaring a financial need per FAFSA application.  
    Wayne College Alumni Association Scholarship $500 FT/PT First consideration to children of Wayne College Alumni

    Wayne College Community Scholarship $1,000 FT/PT New freshman & continuing students
    Resident of Wayne, Holmes, & Medina

    Ineligible for Federal or State Grants per FAFSA
    UA Regional Campus Achievement Scholarship (formerly the Dean’s Scholarship) $3,000 FT New freshman
    Fully admitted to Wayne College by March 1
    GPA 3.5 and 24 ACT (1160-1190 SAT) Fully admitted to the Wayne College Campus and scholarship application completed by March 1st deadline. FAFSA application on file prior to start of fall semester. Renewable if recipients maintain a 3.0 GPA, enrolled in Wayne courses, and complete the Wayne scholarship application and FAFSA application every year before deadlines.            
    Wayne College Faculty-Staff Scholarship $1,000/$500 FT/PT First preference to non-traditional students (age 25+)
    Full-time: completed 24+ credits
    Part-time: Completed 12+ credits
    GPA 3.5
    Ineligible for Federal/State Grants
    Will-Burt Company Scholarship $1,000 FT New freshman with minimum 2.0 GPA and having a financial need. Children of Will-Burt employees are also encouraged to apply.
    Louis Russell Wilson III Memorial Scholarship $1,000 FT First preference to Wayne College student employee/assistant declaring a financial need per FAFSA application.

      The Demkee Family Scholarship
      $800 – $1000 – May 1st Deadline – Annual scholarship held and administered through the Catholic Community Foundation. Students attending The University of Akron, Wayne College, or any satellite branch affiliated with the University. Part-time or full-time, documented minimum 3.0 GPA, registered in a Catholic parish in Wayne or Summit County.       The French Ridge Title Company Scholarship

      Eligibility: Available to part-time or full-time students must demonstrate financial need, be a female graduate of West Holmes High School and be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business or Law and attend Wayne College or The University of Akron.       Arden and Clarice Shisler Nationwide Insurance Scholarship (Wayne College)
      Eligibility: Available to Dalton High School graduating seniors enrolling at The University of Akron Wayne College as a full-time student who have a balance of participation in academics, extra-curricular activities and community service/part-time employment. Applicants must have a minimum 2.50 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Previous applicants and/or recipients may not reapply.
