New and Current Students are Invited to Welcome to Wayne Day on August 22nd
The University of Akron Wayne College is preparing to welcome its new and current students to campus for Welcome to Wayne Day on Thursday, August 22nd from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students can choose to attend 3 of 10 informational sessions between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. They can then make their way to the Resource Fair in the J.M. Smucker Multi-Purpose Room from 11:30 to 1:30. "Welcome to Wayne day is one of my favorite days of the year! Campus is busy with students and their families asking questions, learning about campus resources, and getting to know staff and faculty a little better! It's so important that we hold this event to help students feel confident and excited about their college experience," said Sonya Wagner, Manager, Student Services Center at UA Wayne.
The value of Welcome to Wayne Day is different for each student. For some, it’s a chance to find their classrooms, sign up for a tutor or meet their teachers, make a schedule change, finalize their financial aid or get their Zip Card. Beyond connecting with services, the event provides the incoming class with a first social event to meet the overall class as well as other students in their major. The resource fair format allows students to check out all the resources available to them in one convenient place. Lunch will be provided and students who attend get a free t-shirt and can be entered into a raffle!
Students are encouraged to RSVP to the event and are invited to bring a friend or family member to help make them more comfortable as they start on the next chapter in their lives at UA Wayne College. The staff and faculty are excited for the fall 2024 semester and look forward to seeing all the students on campus!
