Wayne College Hires New Community Relations Manager

The University of Akron Wayne College is pleased to announce that they have hired Regina Schwartz as their new manager of community relations. She will be overseeing the College’s advertising, community events, website and publications.

Schwartz received her B.S.B.A. degree in marketing from The Ohio State University. She comes to the College from Wayne County Children Services, where she worked in community relations and foster parent recruitment. While there, Schwartz started the successful Foster Care Month Kite Festival, the Foster Friends of Wayne County program and the annual “Celebrate Adoption” tree-lighting event. Additionally, Schwartz is a certified adoption assessor, has experience as a retail buyer, retail store manager and is the author of nine children’s phonics books.

“I can already see that Wayne College is a special place and I’m excited to be a part of it,” Schwartz says. “The focus on the student really drives everything the College does. I’m convinced that the student-focus at Wayne will lead to continued growth and success for the College, and I’m looking forward to partnering with the community as we expand our academic offerings and facilities.”

Wayne College is the regional campus of The University of Akron, and offers the first two years of general bachelor’s degree courses for students who plan to complete their degrees at the Akron campus or other colleges and universities. In addition, Wayne College offers a baccalaureate degree in organizational supervision, a Saturday MBA program and a wide variety of associate’s degrees and occupational programs. The campus is located at 1901 Smucker Road in Orrville.
