Wayne College Site of New Phyllis Wiebe Garden

Installation of the Phyllis Wiebe Garden began mid-October at The University of Akron Wayne College. Situated between both classroom buildings on campus, it was funded by Smith Dairy and is named for retired Wayne College Administrative Assistant to the Dean Phyllis Wiebe, who served the school for 30 years. Ms. Wiebe was actively involved in the planning and kept her French heritage in mind as she helped choose many of the components, including  a center fountain, paving stones, a lighted walkway,  trees, shrubs, and numerous lavender plants.  A dedication ceremony is planned for spring 2011.
