Fracking: What is it and How Does it Impact Us?
The University of Akron Wayne College invites the public to learn more about hydraulic fracturing, also known as “fracking,” at a community forum Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Smucker Room of the Student Life Building.
The controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil from shale beds deep below the ground’s surface has gained particular attention recently as increased seismic activity in the Youngstown, Ohio area is being attributed to the process.

Wayne College Welcomes New Interim Dean
Professor Neil Sapienza has been named interim dean of The University of Akron Wayne College. Sapienza previously served as interim associate dean for fine arts and community engagement in the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences and director of the School of Dance, Theartre, and Arts Administration at the main campus of The University of Akron.
Free Finanical Aid Paperwork Assistance At Wayne College
Getting a college education is more important than ever in today’s tough job market, but finding the money for college can be challenging. In an effort to help students start the sometimes overwhelming financial aid search, The University of Akron Wayne College is offering financial aid workshops at a variety of times and dates to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
February 4, March 3 and April 1, 9:00 a.m.-noon - FAFSA Workshops - Computer Lab A-225, Main building, 1901 Smucker Rd., Orrville. Register by calling the Wayne College student services office at 330-684-8942.
