Faculty from UA’s School of Disaster Science & Emergency Services, staff from the Cleveland Clinic, and members of Wayne College’s administration team came together to discuss the EMT program and ways to build on our successful collaboration.

At UA Wayne, we are proud to offer associate degree programs in Emergency Medical Services. In our EMT/Paramedic Option, graduates earn state certification as an EMT-Paramedic and Firefighter, equipping them with the highest level of first responder skills. Students have the option of one semester of Fire Academy for the opportunity to take the Firefighter I and II licensure exams. The program includes academic courses, EMT/Paramedic courses, and certification for the National Registry paramedic card.

In our Fire/Medic Option, we partner with various area firehouses for Fire Academy to support students in training to become a licensed Firefighter and the opportunity to take the Firefighter I and II licensure exams. UA is proud to have a 90-95% pass rate for the State Fire Exam. Along with fire-related courses, students take academic and EMT/Paramedic courses.

Students in our Fire Protection Technology associate degree program gain real-world experience through fire training, educational tours, and research projects—helping them make informed career decisions in the field of fire protection and fire suppression systems. This program assists the student in becoming an expert in many areas including fire protection, recognition and correction of fire hazards, design and application of fire extinguishing equipment, and utilization of fire codes and standards.

We're committed to preparing the next generation of emergency service professionals with top-tier education and hands-on experience. Interested in one of our EMT associate degrees? Learn more.
