UA's College Credit Plus (CCP) Program

The College Credit Plus Program was created by the state Legislature to allow all students to enroll in a college or university to earn dual high school and college credit. The program is available to qualified public, private, parochial or home school student.

Through the College Credit Plus Program:

• • Students are eligible to enroll in classes during fall and spring semesters
• • Students must work with their school guidance counselors to discuss specific school policies
• • Students will receive both high school graduation credit and college credit
• • Public high school student’s tuition will be paid directly out of the public school’s state funds
• • Non-public and homeschooled students are subsidized by a specific sum of money set aside by the Ohio General Assembly, and funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis
• • Required textbooks, tuition and fees related to coursework are provided for both public and non-public students by the individual school district

Advantages for college-level learning during high school

• • Strengthening the 7-12 curriculum and raising expectations for students.
• • Reducing the total number of credits needed to be earned in college.
• • CCP can potentially reduce financial aid and other the time required to obtain a degree.
• • Potentially reducing costs to parents, students, school districts, and taxpayers.
• • Allowing earlier entry into advanced courses, facilitation of double majors, or permitting additional electives after completing introductory courses.

Ohio College Credit Plus is not intended to be a substitute for the academic programs, social growth or maturing experience provided by Ohio’s schools. It is not intended to interfere with or replace advanced placement courses nor the school’s college preparatory curriculum available to students within their school system.

3.0 Cumulative Unweighted High School GPA

OR

Obtain at least one remediation-free score on the ACT or SAT as determined by the Ohio Department of Higher Education:

• • ACT English of 18, ACT Reading of 22 or ACT Math of 22.
• • SAT Evidence-based Reading & Writing of 480 or SAT Math of 530.
•  • Students with at least a 2.75 cumulative unweighted high school GPA will be evaluated by the Office of Admissions to determine if ACT or SAT scores are required.
• • 7th and 8th grade applicants without an established high school GPA must take the ACT or SAT.

Steps to Apply for Admission^*

The application deadline to begin in the summer (May/June) or the fall semester (August) is April 15. To begin in the spring semester (January) the deadline is October 15.

1. Complete the Undergraduate Admission Application.
   • Check the box marked College Credit Plus Program.
2. Complete the Signature page and permission slip.
   • Signatures are required by: the student, the parent or guardian, and the school counselor.
3. Submit an official school transcript.
   • For applicants in the 7th grade, the transcript should include 6th and 5th grades.
   • For applicants in the 8th grade, transcripts should include 7th and 6th grades.
4. Submitting ACT or SAT scores is optional, but strongly preferred.
   
   • Testing must be completed prior to the application deadline.
