Tom Hammond
Lab Support Specialist of Technical Support Services Tom Hammond, received a Master of Arts in Education in Educational Foundations – Instructional Technology on August 17, 2013.  This accomplishment enables the design of effective technology for enhanced instruction, production of multimedia learning resources, and planning for successful integration and implementation of technology into the teaching and learning experience.

Presented "The 1979 Iran Revolution" on Oct. 21, 2013 at Urbana University, Urbana, OH. (sponsored by Ohio Humanities Council as part of the Muslim Journeys program)

 

Maureen Lerch
UA Wayne College Library Director Maureen Lerch presented “Laying the Foundation for Student Success with Information Literacy” at the Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges (OATYC) Annual Conference on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Stark State College.  The session described a faculty / librarian collaboration to embed information literacy in a freshman English Composition course, setting a solid foundation for future student success.

The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD) – Midwest, represents one of six Districts within AAHPERD (Eastern, Central, Midwest, Southern, Southwest, and Northwest); AAHPERD Midwest District includes: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. Will be recognized/accepting award at the Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (OAHPERD), 84TH State Convention, Kalahari Resorts Convention Center, Sandusky, Ohio, December 6, 2013.

Partnership
UAWC, Department of SSWE, Exercise Science Technology program established partnership with the Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region, Mrs. Mary Bird, Manager. Students within the EST program who are CPR certified and achieve certification with the AF, serve as the AFEP instructors, which is offered on the Wayne College campus, Boyer Gymnasium, Fridays, 9:30-10:15am (see spring schedule for specific Fridays). This is the third academic year of the program. Fall 2013 will have 7 sessions, beginning September 13 through December 13.

Leadership Services/Activities
Elected to the Executive Committee, Recording Secretary, American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD)-Midwest. Regional coverage includes: Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and West Virginia. Two-year term, beginning end of April 2013 thru April 2015.

Wooster YMCA Board of Trustees. Serve as Board member for the Wooster Y. Ten members on the BOT. 3-year term. January 2012-present.

Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (OAHPERD) Editorial Board for Future Focus. March 2011-present.

Orrville Area United Way – Board of Directors member, elected January 2010. Recently accepted second 3-year term (2012-2015).  Also, due to this role, serve on the Citizen Review Committee (CRC) and Events Committee (EC).

Reviewer for the Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (OAHPERD) Research Grants, October 2013. Research Grants submitted by researchers at Ohio institutions of higher learning.
