Business administration degree option begins fall 2013

The University of Akron Wayne College will offer UA’s Bachelor of Business Administration degree this fall, bringing the total number of bachelor’s degrees available on the Orrville campus to four. In addition to business administration, the College offers courses leading to bachelor’s degrees in social work, organizational supervision and business management. The University of Akron’s Saturday MBA program will also begin a new two-year session in Orrville this fall.

The business administration courses use distance learning (DL) technology which allows students at two locations to participate simultaneously. Students receive in-person instruction two Saturdays per month and DL instruction on the alternating Saturdays.

The classes are taught by professors of The University of Akron’s College of Business Administration, which is a nationally recognized school of business accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Students who have completed an associate degree in business management technology are eligible for the two-year business administration completion program, an option that saves money compared to a traditional four-year business administration program.

According to Wayne College Director of Instruction & Program Development Garth Schoffman, the first two years of the program at Wayne are 30% less than the average 4-year public college in Ohio, plus students can live at home and work full or part-time during the week.

“This provides local students an opportunity to more affordably earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration,” Schoffman said. “Local pathways to four-year programs are convenient for many students, but are especially important for working adults who find it difficult to commute to Akron or any of the other extended campuses.”

More information regarding the business administration degree can be found at uakron.edu/cba/cba-home/academic-programs/ug/saturday-bba or by calling Wayne College Student Services at 330-683-8900. UA Wayne College is a regional campus of The University of Akron, and is located at 1901 Smucker Road in Orrville. In addition to bachelor degree options, the College offers associate degrees, general education classes that fulfill requirements for the first two years of most bachelor’s degrees, and continuing education and certificate programs.
