Easily navigate the financial aid process with FREE workshops at Wayne College

10/20/2017

The first step to finding money for college is completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the FREE federal application required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans as well as need-based state grants. Studies show that a student is 50% more likely to attend college when they complete the FAFSA.

To help navigate the process, UA Wayne College is hosting free FAFSA workshops where representatives will be available to assist with completing the application process. The dates are October 28, November 4, November 18, and December 9 from 9 am to 12 noon in the Main Classroom Building, located at 1901 Smucker Road in Orrville.

“Filing out the FAFSA is important whether you believe you will qualify for financial aid or not,” says Theresa Rabbitts, student services counselor. “There are even some scholarships which require students to file a FAFSA. Therefore, we encourage everyone to apply and be eligible for every opportunity possible.”

While walk-ins are welcome, registration is encouraged by calling 330.684.8942. Items to bring include a photo ID, social security number, 2016 W2 forms and other records of money earned, 2016 federal income tax return, parents' federal income tax return if a dependent, 2016 untaxed income records, current bank statements and investment records.

The priority deadline for completing the FAFSA for The University of Akron Wayne College is December 1, 2017. The priority deadline for admissions and scholarships at Wayne College is March 1, 2018.
