Tressel Joined by Top Coaches for New May Class

04/07/2014

Back by popular demand, the normally semester-long coaching class taught by Jim Tressel and Jim Dennison will be offered over an intense abbreviated two-week long format during May at the main campus of The University of Akron and several satellite locations including Wayne College in Orrville and the UA Wayne Holmes Campus in Millersburg. The class, designed for anyone who wants to better understand the most effective coaching and leadership styles, is open to students who want to earn credit for the class and other participants who can earn continuing education credits and/or a certificate of completion. The class schedule, including in-class and on-line attendance, is being offered in a compact schedule to accommodate the many high school and community coaches who had expressed desire to take the class last fall, but found it conflicted with their own team practice schedules.

The Winners Manual for Leadership and Coaching” is taught by two of the most successful coaches in college sports history: Jim Tressel, The University of Akron’s executive vice president for student success and former Ohio State football head coach, and former Walsh University and UA football coach Jim Dennison. In addition, they are joining forces with an impressive lineup of seven local college football head coaches to “team teach” a course (with credit and non-credit options) at The University of Akron.

There are classes conveniently scheduled at various UA community sites, including Medina, Brunswick, Orrville, Lakewood and Millersburg. For locations and scheduling and registration, please go to http://www.uakron.edu/sswe/coaching.dot.

Tressel and Dennison will be joined by by Mark McNellie (Lake Erie College), Tom Watts (Ohio Wesleyan), John Snell (Baldwin Wallace), Adam Howard (Notre Dame), Frank Colaprete (College of Wooster), Greg Debeljak (CWRU) and Lee Owens (Ashland University) for what promises to be a most interesting and interactive coaching session!
