The University of Akron Wayne College announces fall visit days and FAFSA workshops

10/01/2019

Imagine your life as a Zip by attending an upcoming Campus Visit Day on Monday, October 14 or November 18 both at 6 pm in the Student Life Building. Located at 1901 Smucker Rd. in Orrville, Campus Visit Days include campus tours, information about course offerings, the admissions process, scholarship opportunities and financial aid.

Course offerings will include information about the expanded four-year degree programs now at Wayne College. Designed for new freshmen, programs include the Bachelor of Business Administration, the Bachelor of Strategic and Organizational Communication, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Bachelor of Early Childhood Inclusive Teacher Preparation (ECITP). These degrees are offered entirely on the Wayne College campus, allowing students to earn additional four-year degrees close to home. RSVP for Campus Visit Days online at wayne.uakron.edu/campusvisitday.

If you’re ready to take the next step and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), consider registering for a FAFSA workshop where representatives will be available to help navigate the process. The FAFSA is the FREE federal application required to receive federal financial aid, including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans as well as need-based state grants. Studies show that a student is 50% more likely to attend college when they complete the FAFSA.

Workshops will be held on Saturday, October 5 and November 2 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and Tuesday, October 22 and November 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. All workshops are held in the Main Classroom Building.

“Filling out the FAFSA is important whether you believe you will qualify for financial aid or not,” says April Blood, student services counselor. “There are even some scholarships which require students to file a FAFSA. Therefore, we encourage everyone to apply and be eligible for every opportunity possible.”

While walk-ins are welcome for the FAFSA workshops, registration is encouraged by calling 330.684.8915. Items to bring include a photo ID, social security number, 2018 W2 forms and other records of money earned, 2018 federal income tax return, parents' federal income tax return if a dependent, 2018 untaxed income records, current bank statements and investment records.

The priority deadline for completing the FAFSA for The University of Akron Wayne College is December 1, 2019. The priority deadline for admissions and scholarships at Wayne College is March 1, 2020. Apply for admissions online at wayne.uakron.edu/admissions. Scholarships applications can be found at wayne.uakron.edu/scholarships.
