Wayne College receives grant for fitness and wellness initiative10/15/2019
The Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF) approved a $10,000 grant to The University of Akron Wayne College from the Carl E. Congdon, Jr. and Susanna Congdon McIntyre Memorial Fund. The equipment purchased from this grant will be used to support the Wayne College fitness and wellness initiative: Healthy Campus 2020 – Equipment Project.
“We are grateful to be the recent recipient of the Carl E. Congdon, Jr. and Susanna Congdon McIntyre Memorial Fund through the WCCF,” said Dr. John Roncone, associate professor and program coordinator of sport science and wellness education at Wayne College. “The grant award will provide fitness equipment that will enhance the campus community fitness and wellness initiative, as well as student tools for academics in the Department of Sport Science and Wellness Education. This state-of-the-art fitness equipment in our weight room and newly renovated cardio, core and flexibility room, provides the campus community an opportunity to engage in regular physical activity, of which, is vital to one’s overall health and wellness.”
Equipment purchased with grant funding includes a Life Fitness upright bike, Life Fitness elliptical, Body Solid Pro Dual Pec Fly and Reverse Fly, Body Solid Pro Select Sled and Body Solid Pro Dual Cable Column.
