Summer Sessions Begin This Month At Wayne College

05/02/2011

The University of Akron Wayne College is offering more than 80 courses this summer with the first session beginning May 16, and the second session beginning June 20.

Wayne College offers day and evening classes during the summer sessions and both credit courses and noncredit continuing education courses are available. For a complete list of classes offered this summer, visit the College website at www.wayne.uakron.edu or call 330-684-8900.

According to College Academic Adviser Wendy Cundiff, summer is a great time for college students who are home on break to take a few college courses.

“Students can lighten their fall load, or work toward early graduation, by taking one or two courses here over the summer,” Cundiff says. “Classes are generally not as crowded in the summer so students have a chance to get more one-on-one instruction.”

Summer is also the perfect time to explore the beautiful grounds at Wayne College, which include a nature trail and arboretum, the 1818 Barnet-Hoover farmhouse, the Scott Hagen Aquatic Area and the new Phylllis Weibe Garden. The public is welcome seven days a week during daylight hours. More information about the nature trail can be found at http://wayne.uakron.edu/about/nature/.

Wayne College is the regional campus of The University of Akron, and offers the first two years of general bachelor’s degree courses for students who plan to complete their degrees at the Akron campus or other colleges and universities. In addition, Wayne College offers a baccalaureate degree in organizational supervision, a Saturday MBA program and a wide variety of associate’s degrees and occupational programs. The campus is located at 1901 Smucker Road in Orrville.
