Begin College Close To Home

11/11/2010

The popularity of community-based university campuses is on the rise as students recognize the benefits of pursuing an education close to home. Traditional and non-traditional students alike are learning that courses taken at a local campus can be an affordable and convenient option.

The Holmes County Higher Education Center, a campus of The University of Akron Wayne College, offers many of the classes needed to get started.  The Center is hosting an open house on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m., at 88-B E. Jackson St. in downtown Millersburg.  Information will be presented on courses, financial aid, degree programs, workforce development, ACT testing, and summer programming for children. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

Wayne College is a regional campus of The University of Akron and offers a number of associate degree programs along with the first two years of general bachelor’s degree courses for students who intend to complete their studies at the Akron campus or another college or university.  Wayne College also offers a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Supervision geared toward students who hold an associate degree in any of a number of technical disciplines.  A number of non-credit, professional development pursuits are available as well.

Registration for the open house is suggested, but not required.  Please RSVP at 330-674-2514 or e-mail HolmesCenter@uakron.edu.
