Begin the new year with a career plan

10/29/2010

Choosing a career path can be a confusing and intimidating process.  The direction one takes can significantly impact the future.  With a new year approaching and many people seeking to make themselves more marketable in these changing economic times, The University of Akron Wayne College Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is offering four career exploration workshops that will provide the skill assessments and resources individuals need to decide which path is right for them.

Each three-hour workshop begins by focusing on individual desires, abilities and temperament.  Employment trends are discussed and the requirements of careers forecasted to be in high demand are identified.  In addition, anyone that has been displaced in their job can learn what financial resources are available from the Employment and Training Connection of Wayne, Ashland and Holmes Counties to help them gain new employment.

All workshops will be held in Room 204 in the Student Life Building at Wayne College.  Morning sessions are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 15 and Friday, Dec. 10, 9 a.m.-noon and evening dates are Tuesday, Nov. 16 and Thursday, Dec. 9, 5 – 8 p.m.  Each session will cover the same material and costs $35.  Individuals that go on to sign up for noncredit training offered by the College will have their registration fee applied toward the cost of the course they sign up for.
