Free Financial Aid Workshops

02/04/2015

The first step to finding money for college is completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. While the process can be overwhelming, free help is available through Wayne College.

The Wayne College Holmes Campus is hosting College Goal Sunday on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. The campus is located at 88-B E. Jackson St., Millersburg. The free, statewide event is presented by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) and endorsed by the Ohio Board of Regents. It will be staffed with experts who will assist students and parents with completing the FAFSA, which is required to receive federal financial aid, including the Federal Pell Grant, student loans, and any need-based state grants.

While walk-ins are welcome, registration is encouraged at www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org or by calling 1-800-233-6734.

Wayne College is also hosting free FAFSA workshops on its Orrville campus where you can meet with representatives and learn how to navigate the financial aid process. The dates are Feb. 7, Feb. 28, March 7 and April 18 from 9 a.m.-noon in the Main Classroom Building.

“It’s important to file a FAFSA whether you believe you will qualify for financial aid or not,” says Theresa Rabbitts, student services counselor, Wayne College. “Many scholarships require a FAFSA on file in order to be eligible for consideration. Therefore, we encourage everyone to complete the paperwork and take advantage of every opportunity that is available.”

The College is located at 1901 Smucker Rd.  Call Theresa for more information and to register at 330-684-8942.
