Maureen grew up in a south suburb of Chicago before moving to the Massillon area to attend Jackson High School. Maureen went on to receive her Bachelor degree (majoring in English) and her Master of Library Science from Kent State University.
Maureen began her professional career as a young adult / reference librarian at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, followed by Louisville Public Library and Orrville Public Library. Maureen received Ohio Library Council's Diana Vescelius Award in 1999 for her work to promote library services to teen patrons. In 2004 Maureen co-authored a book for young adult librarians, Serving Homeschooled Teens and Their Parents.
Maureen came to Wayne College in 2001 as a reference librarian and was promoted to manager of library services in 2004. In addition to managing the daily operation of the library, she directs library collection development, information services, and information literacy instruction activities. Maureen became the library director in 2010 and currently co-chairs the Institutional Effectiveness committee, and is a member of the Teaching and Learning Collaborative and Assessment and Accreditation Committees. She is a member of the American Library Association, Association of College and Research Libraries, and the Academic Library Association of Ohio.
Maureen is a graduate of the Library Leadership Institute at Snowbird (2000) and a graduate of Leadership Orrville (2006) and The Univeristy of Akron Academic Leadership Forum (2010).
In her spare time Maureen enjoys plant based cooking, gardening, reading, and reality TV. She also leads the Fireside Reader's Book Discussion Group, which meets monthly at Wayne College. Maureen and her husband, Richard, live in Massillon with their three cats, Monkey, Scout, and Boo Radley.
