Charles Bell grew up in Brunswick, Ohio. His studies began at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, and following a career in business, include The University of Akron, the College of Wooster, Ashland University, The Ohio State University, Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan and Georgetown University. Charles returned to Ohio and began teaching at The University of Akron/Wayne College in 2000 where he is an Associate Lecturer.

Charles has traveled in Jordan, Syria, Turkey and extensively in Appalachia. He has interests focusing on the culture and development of non-western civilizations. His hobbies include numismatics, antiquarian books, philately and music.
