The 12th annual Wayne College Student Writing Awards competition is underway at The University of Akron Wayne College. The goal of these annual awards is to encourage and recognize excellence in creative writing by students at Wayne and in area high schools.
The writing awards are open to current Wayne College students and to high school students in Wayne, Holmes, and Medina counties and in parts of nearby counties traditionally served by Wayne College.
High School and College students may submit work in the Poetry category (up to 3 poems, limit of 50 lines per poem), in the Short Story category (one story, limit of 2,000 words), and/or in the Personal Essay category (one essay, limit of 2,000 words).
There are three cash prizes possible in each category and at each level: $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third. High school students compete at the high school level; Wayne students compete against Wayne students.
