Smokin’ Joe Robinson Brings Nashville to Orrville

02/24/2015

Australian guitar virtuoso Joe Robinson, winner of 2008 Australia’s Got Talent and named Best New Talent in Guitar Player Magazine’s 2010 reader’s poll, returns to The University of Akron Wayne College for an encore performance Saturday, March 21 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Main Classroom Building.

Better known as Smokin’ Joe, the Nashville star played to a sell out crowd at Wayne College in 2013. Since then Robinson has been playing festivals and headlining clubs in North America. He also played in China, Japan, Europe and Australia, defining himself as a budding world visionary with his unique fusion of vocally-based rock, blues, jazz, and R&B. Displaying his virtuosity on electric guitar as well as acoustic, Robinson landed a coveted spot as one of Australian Guitar Magazine’s Top 50 Best Guitarists. His forthcoming project, Gemini, will feature his most creative work to date.
