The University of Akron Wayne College invites the public to explore employment opportunities at this year’s Wayne County Career Expo on Friday, April 27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Located at 1901 Smucker Road in Orrville, the expo will take place in the Student Life Building. The event is free and open to the public.

The career expo will feature over 40 employers and will offer opportunities to network, apply for full-time jobs, part-time jobs, summer jobs, internships and professional career opportunities. “Learn more about the wide-range of careers available at the expo or within our community by contacting OhioMeansJobs Wayne County,” said Crystal Brown, Workforce Administrator for OhioMeansJobs Wayne County.

Along with job seekers, this year’s career expo will include 220+ high school seniors who are ready to enter the workforce upon graduation. Local participating schools include Dalton, Northwestern, Orrville, Rittman, Smithville, Triway, Waynedale and the Wayne County Schools Career Center.

“It’s exciting to have high school seniors participate in this year’s career expo,” said Wayne Girbach, Director of the Workforce Innovations Network. “We’re confident their participation will help prepare them for the workplace, familiarize them with Wayne County employers and accelerate their job placement efforts.” Students will attend workshops on money management and social media. Along with an employer panel, students will also participate in job-ready interviews.

“The collaboration between our county commissioners, state representatives, education, and our local businesses and partners continues to strengthen and diversify Wayne County’s Career Expo,” said Richard Owens, Director for Wayne County Department of Job and Family Services. “We encourage job seekers to take advantage of this opportunity.”
