Free Financial Aid Event at UA Wayne Holmes Campus

The University of Akron’s Wayne College Holmes Campus, located at 88-B E. Jackson St. in Millersburg, will once again host the state-wide college financial aid event “College Goal Sunday” on February 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. The free event, presented by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) and endorsed by the Ohio Board of Regents, assists students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the federal application that is required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans as well as the need-based state grants.

Two other UA campuses will serve as College Goal Sunday sites as well. They are:

• The University of Akron Medina County University Center, 6300 Technology Lane, Medina.
• The University of Akron Main Campus, Simmons Hall, 277 E. Buchtel Ave., Akron

The event is open to current college students at any institution, as well as prospective students planning to attend a college in Ohio or out-of-state, and their parents. While walk-ins are welcome, registration is encouraged due to the great demand expected for assistance in completing the FASFA. The FAFSA is the key to funding a college education and helping families to overcome financial barriers that otherwise prevent students from attending the institution they want to. Studies show that a student is 50% more likely to attend college when they complete the FAFSA.

The Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) is a nonprofit, professional organization for individuals actively engaged in the administration of financial aid within the State of Ohio for higher education. As an educational organization, OASFAA strives to offer resources to students, families and high school advisors to promote higher education and increase awareness of financial aid opportunities.
