Wayne College to host Old Fashioned Holiday at the Farmhouse

11/15/2017

The University of Akron Wayne College’s popular annual community event, Old Fashioned Holiday at the Farmhouse is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16, 2:00-5:00 pm in the Barnet-Hoover Farmhouse.

Free and open to the public, the family-friendly afternoon will be packed with activities for all ages including pictures with Santa, children's crafts, refreshments, displays detailing holiday traditions, and horse drawn wagon rides provided by Spring Mist Farms.

The Barnet-Hoover Farmhouse is the oldest two-story house in the Orrville area. Originally built in 1818, the College renovated the structure in 2005 with modern conveniences and technology to make it a usable part of the campus community, while maintaining the historic feel and rustic charm. Currently, it is being used for outside rentals including business events and, most recently, private parties.

"We're proud to be the stewards of such a historical building," said Dr. Jarrod Tudor, dean, Wayne College. "The Barnet-Hoover Farmhouse is the perfect backdrop for this event. It's just as much fun for us as it is for our guests! We look forward to families coming out and making great holiday memories."
