Emmy-Nominated Musician Philip Giffin to Speak at Wayne College

Philip Giffin, a Hollywood composer, arranger, and record producer will discuss the television and movie music business on Wednesday, November 29, at 6 p.m. in The University of Akron Wayne College auditorium.

Giffin, a Wooster native, has orchestrated and written music for the films Die Hard I, Die Hard II, Lethal Weapon I, Lethal Weapon II, Sommersby, Like Mike, Fatal Instinct, Beethoven’s 3rd, Beethoven’s 4th, Soul Plane, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, The Last Boy Scout, and The Little Mermaid.  His television credits include music for Boomtown, which resulted in an Emmy nomination, as well as K-Ville, Eyes, The Simpsons, Summerland, Darkwing Duck, and Muppets Tonight. Most recently, Giffin finished composing the score for Amityville: The Awakening and Polaroid. In addition, he has written music for a wide range of television movies and advertising campaigns, including Nike, Ford Motor Company, and Budweiser.

A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Giffin says he enjoys sharing anecdotes about how music is created for film and plans for an interactive evening where audience members can discuss the process with him.
