Karen has been at Wayne College since November 2011. Prior to joining the staff at Wayne College she worked at the Akron campus in the Office of Academic Affairs where her main responsibilities included supporting the Senior Vice President, Provost & COO, the Vice Provost for Academic Operations, the Vice Provost for Academic Planning, Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, UA's academic policies, procedures, and reviews including faculty promotion and tenure, faculty professional development, contracts, curriculum development and approval processes, and accreditation for the University as well as discipline specific accreditation within the colleges. Prior to coming to UA, Karen worked at The Ohio State University for nearly 25 years where she served as Director of Optometry Relations. In that role she served as director of alumni relations, continuing medical education, marketing and communications, and coordinator of residency programs and student extern rotations. Karen spends her spare time with a very spoiled rotten beagle named Buckeye. For those of you that like college football you can probably tell by her name that she is an Ohio State Buckeye's football fan. Karen has missed three OSU home games in 28 years. Any remaining personal time is spent reading medical murder mysteries, outdoor activities, and volunteering for Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Institute Challenge Golf. Challenge Golf provides therapeutic benefits to persons recovering from strokes, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputations, neuromuscular disorders, visual impairments, persons with developmental challenges, and those with less disabling impairments, such as hip or knee replacements.
